According to the Rules

According to the Rules fuses the scientific understanding of biological adaptation with counted-thread work embroidery. Traditional counted-thread embroidery techniques are usually based on a set of stitches that are used to create a wide array of different patterns and designs. Similarly, scientists use techniques such as genetic engineering to create new genes and consequently, new proteins and mechanisms. These existing technologies, with prescribed ‘rules’ drive adaptation and change. To embroider with this unusual material, embroidery techniques are modified allowing the interior to become the exterior.
